My submitted FDA comment supports carefully supervised ibogaine research, with patient safety, informed consent, medication continuity, and long-term follow-up at the center.

Written October 9, 2026 and submitted October 12, 2026, it reflects my individual professional perspective as a registered nurse and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student.
I support carefully supervised research into ibogaine because people living with persistent trauma symptoms and opioid use disorder deserve better answers. My support comes with a clear expectation: every study must protect participants and produce evidence that patients and clinicians can trust.
The full statement addresses cardiac safety, supervised medication changes, accessible informed consent, trauma-informed care, and follow-up at six months and one year. It distinguishes preliminary research findings from established benefit and asks researchers to report worsening symptoms and negative findings alongside improvement.
